Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

AES provided acoustic expertise relating to a new “Spectator Events and Education Zone” in the Dunedin City Plan. The plan change was necessary to allow the Forsyth Barr Stadium to host large sporting, cultural, and entertainment events, while ensuring that noise effects for nearby residents are minor.

Our analysis included the development of a detailed three dimensional model of the stadium and surrounding area in order to predict how noise would propagate during major events. The Stadium will be New Zealand’s first fully enclosed grassed stadium. Construction started on the project in June 2009 and is due for completion in time for the 2011 rugby world cup.
