About Us
Since its inception in April 2006, AES has risen rapidly to become one of the leading acoustic consultancies in New Zealand. In this brief history, AES has completed a wide range of projects in association with some of New Zealand’s leading project management, architectural, planning and engineering companies
AES is a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers of New Zealand (ACENZ), and AES Directors are involved in associated industry groups such as IPENZ and the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI). AES staff also act as peer reviewers on practical design issues on behalf of various territorial authorities and other consultants, and have been requested to provide technical peer review for the New Zealand Acoustical Society, Australian Acoustical Society and the Journal of Sound and Vibration.
AES is headed up by Managing Director Dr Jeremy Trevathan and supported by non-working Director Brady Cosgrove of part-owners Cosgrove and Major Consulting Engineers.
In his time with Acoustic Engineering Services Jeremy has successfully completed a wide range of projects including the acoustic design of apartments, bars, restaurants, classrooms, auditoriums, churches, function centers, hospitals and car parks.
Before founding Acoustic Engineering Services Jeremy completed a doctorate studying the transmission of sound through light framed walls, and received international recognition of this work through publication in international journals Building Acoustics, Applied Acoustics and the Journal of Noise Control Engineering. Through his years of postgraduate study, Jeremy worked part-time as an acoustic consultant for Canterprise, successfully completing projects for some of New Zealand’s most innovative engineering companies.
In his spare time Jeremy can be found training for, and competing in, various mountain biking events around the South Island, and playing bass with his band Echoman around Christchurch.
